Bay St. George RCMP seizes three vehicles in one day – Royal Canadian Mounted Police

Bay St. George RCMP seized and impounded three vehicles on January 25, 2022, for various infractions.

Shortly before 10:00 a.m., an officer on patrol in Lourdes observed a known prohibited driver operating a truck on the Main Road. The 39-year-old man, who is prohibited from driving Canada-wide due to an impaired driving conviction, immediately placed the truck in park, exited the vehicle and fled on foot in the woods. He returned to the vehicle a short time later and was arrested for driving while prohibited. The man was released from custody and is scheduled to attend court at a later date to face a charge of prohibited driving.

At approximately 11:30 a.m., the same officer was on patrol in Lourdes and stopped a truck for having a licence plate attached that belonged to a different vehicle. The driver, a 45-year-old man, was driving while suspended and the vehicle was not insured. He was ticketed for each violation.

Later that afternoon, at approximately 1:50 p.m., the same officer was on patrol in Ship Cove and stopped a car for having expired registration. The driver, an 83-year-old man, was driving while suspended and was ticketed.

All three vehicles were seized and impounded.

Bay St. George RCMP continues to fulfill its mandate to protect public safety, enforce the law, and ensure the delivery of priority policing services in Newfoundland and Labrador.
