Norwin PAL holds registration

PAL Norwin has opened its registration at www.palnorwin.com for its spring 2022 season of recreational baseball, softball, fast pitch and t-ball.

The programs are open for the youth ages 4 to 17 in Norwin and surrounding communities.

The six-field complex is located at 1 Bridge St., North Huntingdon. It has lights for night games and a concession stand.

New emergency management coordinator named

A retired North Huntingdon police officer has been named as the township’s new emergency management coordinator for 2022, replacing another retired police officer.

Township commissioners recently named Rod Mahinske, a retired lieutenant in the department, as the new emergency management coordinator, replacing Robert Dippolito, who was appointed to the post in October 2020.

Mahinske retired from the police department in 2018 and Dippolito retired in May 2019.

Irwin to repair Penglyn Park concession stand

The concession stand at Penglyn Park in Irwin will get some needed repairs this spring.

Council approved spending not more than $800 on materials for the stand.

Also for Penglyn Park, Irwin officials approved spending $5,500 for a security camera system from Reliant Systems LLC of Irwin.

North Huntingdon sets salaries for 2022

North Huntingdon set salaries for the township’s non-union personnel for 2022.

Police Chief Robert Rizzo will be the highest-paid salaried employee at $132,246.

Michael Turley, the assistant manager who has been serving as the acting manager since the resignation of Jeff Silka in November, will receive $94,673 this year.

Jonathan Beskid, communication-technology coordinator, will receive $50,180.

In the planning department, Ryan Fonzi, planning director will receive $82,400. Tom McGuire, zoning officer and building inspector, will receive $63,585. Josh Andrykovitch, code enforcement officer, will be paid $67,420.

Public works director Rich Albert will be paid $85,813 and Tab Fyock, assistant director, will receive $75,630. Dan Miller, parks and recreation director, will receive $76,875.
