Sexual Assault Detectives Investigating Armed Robbery, Kidnapping & Sexual Battery – charlottenc.gov

Charlotte, N.C. – (Tuesday, February 22, 2022) – Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department Sexual Assault Detectives are conducting an Armed Robbery, Kidnapping, and Sexual Battery investigation in the 2000 block of Millerton Ave., in the Metro Division.

On Saturday, February 19, 2022, shortly before 4:00 am., three victims were walking on Millerton Avenue when a red Acura stopped, and one of the occupants armed with a handgun approached the victims. All three victims were robbed at gunpoint of their personal belongings. One of the victims, a 17-year-old juvenile female, was then forced into the suspect vehicle at gunpoint by two unknown suspects, who drove away from the location. The other two victims were able to seek assistance and call 911. Officers from the Metro Division responded, and members of the CMPD Homicide Unit also responded to assist due to the active kidnapping case. Officers quickly worked to locate the victim. The victim was released from the suspects, and Davidson County deputies were able to locate her nearby. The suspects fled the area. The victim was returned to Charlotte and interviewed by CMPD Sexual Assault Detectives. The victim advised that a suspect fondled her during the drive from Charlotte to Davidson County while making verbal threats to harm her.

Video surveillance was obtained of the suspect vehicle, which is currently listed as stolen out of Monroe, NC. The suspect vehicle is a 2008 red Acura TSX, possibly with North Carolina registration JAB-3150. Photos of the two potential suspects are also being released (see below). Both suspects are described as Hispanic males and are pictured below, one with a black and gold jacket and black hat; and one with a green jacket. If anyone has information on the identity of the suspects, please contact Crime Stoppers.

The investigation into this case is active and ongoing. As additional information develops, it will be released by the CMPD’s Public Affairs Office.
