Pair nabbed after officers received report of vehicle idling in parking lot on Sir Winston Churchill Avenue

St. Albert RCMP have arrested and charged two women after officers found them in a vehicle with a stolen licence plate, earlier this month.

Officers responded to a call of a suspicious vehicle idling in a parking lot on Sir Winston Churchill Avenue at around 3:40 a.m. on Feb. 4, RCMP said in a statement released this afternoon.

When RCMP located the vehicle, it was found to have a stolen licence plate attached to it with both female occupants inside, the statement said.

Both women were arrested and face several charges each after officers located numerous stolen items with the pair, along with about 26 grams of a controlled substance, believed to be methamphetamine, according to St. Albert RCMP.

Danika Nowak, 24, of Stony Plain, has been charged with possession of property obtained by crime; identity theft; theft of a credit card; possession of a controlled substance; and two charges of failing to comply with a release order.

Emelia Zimmer, 24, of Spruce Grove, has been charged with possession of property obtained by crime; identity theft; theft of a credit card; and possession of a controlled substance.

Nowak and Zimmer were held for a judicial interim hearing and were released by a Justice of the Peace with conditions. They are set to appear in St. Albert Provincial Court on Feb. 28, 2022.
