Stopped for not only driving a pickup truck with an expired registration but also for following another motorist too closely on Route 15 in Old Lycoming Township about 3 a.m. on Dec. 12, Eric English, 26, of 519 Fairmont Ave., apartment 3, admitted to township police that had consumed “five beers” after they detected an odor of alcohol on him, according to an affidavit. He displayed “signs of impairment” during a series of field sobriety tests and had a blood-alcohol concentration level of .17, police said. Charged with DUI and three summary violations, English has been sent a summons to appear before a district judge.

In another case, Jaquella Dyer, 23, of 504 Grier St., had a blood-alcohol concentration level of .24 when she was involved in a two-vehicle crash in the 2800 block of Lycoming Creek Road in Loyalsock Township about 6:10 a.m. on Sept. 17, state police said in an affidavit. She had “a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from her facial area as she spoke,” according to the affidavit. Her speech was thick and slurred, and her eyes were bloodshot and watery, police said, adding that she too admitted to “consuming alcoholic beverages before the crash.” Charged with DUI and careless driving, Dyer has since waived her preliminary hearing and is free on $2,500 bail.

Concerning another case, motorist Charles E. Reynolds pulled over to the side of Lycoming Creek Road in Hepburn Township just moments after an Old Lycoming Township police officer began to follow him about 1:30 a.m. on Dec. 17, court records stated. When the officer pulled up along side him and stopped, Reynolds, 52, of 924 Race St., stated “he didn’t like cars driving behind him as the lights bugged his eyes. His speech was slurred while he was speaking with me,” the officer wrote in an affidavit.

It turned out that Reynolds, who was driving with a suspended license, allegedly was suspected of driving under the influence of “a drug or a combination of drugs” that impaired his ability to operate a vehicle safely, police said. A bag of fentanyl and drug paraphernalia were found in 2015 Subaru Forester he was driving, police said. Charged with DUI of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia, Reynolds has been sent a summons to appear before a district judge.
