Audi will no longer offer 5-cylinder TT RS and RS 3 in Canada – Driving

Citing “changes in the law for the registration of new vehicles” and the company’s “inability to satisfy certain technical requirements” in a leaked memo, Audi is erasing the five-cylinder 2022 Audi RS 3 and 2022 TT RS models from the Canadian card.

Canadians who are waiting on orders for the 2022 sedan and coupe models should expect a disappointing call from a representative in the coming weeks. Maybe a gift basket for their troubles.

This from Audi Canada:  “Due to specific changes in the law for the registration of new vehicles in the Canadian market, it is no longer possible for Audi Canada to offer the 5-cylinder engine. Consequently, we regret to inform you that Audi Canada and its dealer network can no longer market and sell the RS 3 and TT RS in the Canadian market due to the inability to satisfy certain technical requirements.”

The 2022 Audi RS 3 is a tight, near-400-horsepower package that does zero-to-100-km/h in 3.8 seconds and was supposed to arrive this year. The 2022 Audi TT RS coupe is even quicker, boasting 394 horsepower and a zero-to-100-km/h sprint time of 3.7 seconds.

Audi will continue to offer the track-oriented 2022 Audi RS3 LMS in Canada and is apparently looking into increasing production of other Audi Sport models to make up for the five-cylinder cull.
