CT state police vehicle hit in collision on Interstate 84 near Farmington – New Haven Register

FARMINGTON — A State Police vehicle was hit while the officer was working at the scene of a crash near Farmington on Tuesday evening, according to state police.

Around 7:15 p.m., officers responded to a multi-vehicle incident on Interstate 84 westbound near exit 37 in Farmington. Responding troopers said there were serious injuries and five people were taken to area hospitals.

About an hour later, around 8:20 p.m., a state trooper was working at the scene of the crash. Their car was unoccupied and parked on the eastbound side of the highway when there was a collision with a vehicle that did not belong to state police.


State police said the driver of the other vehicle sufferered from minor injuries. The trooper was not injured.

Interstate 84 west and east near exit 37 is still shut down while police investigate. State police are asking anyone traveling in the area to use alternate routes.
