HAMDEN — A 22-year-old New Haven man was shot and killed in what police believe was a domestic-related dispute early Saturday, according to the Hamden Police Department.

Hamden police officers were called on a report of a shooting that took place inside a condominium on the 2300th block of State Street around 3 a.m. Saturday, according to Detective Sean Dolan.

The gunshot victim, a 22-year-old man from New Haven, was rushed to Yale New Haven Hospital, but he later died from his injuries, Dolan said.

Police did not identify the gunshot victim as they were waiting for his next of kin to be notified, he said.

Police said they believe the shooting stemmed from a domestic-related dispute.

Detectives from the Hamden Police Department’s Major Crimes and Crime Scene units were investigating the incident. Anyone with information related to the shooting is asked to contact Detective Shawn Nutcher at 203-287-4812.
