Meriden police: Gas station footage showed man driving stolen CT vehicle – New Haven Register

MERIDEN β€” Police said they have charged a 31-year-old man in connection with an assault and motor vehicle theft last summer.

Vicente Fernandez-Torres was charged with third-degree larceny on Tuesday, Meriden police said in a statement. Fernandez-Torres was already incarcerated on unrelated charges at the time of his arrest and was held on $10,000 bond. according to officials.

The arrest stems from an incident on July 10, 2021. Police said they were called to an address on Crown Street after a report of β€œan assault and a stolen motor vehicle.”

The stolen vehicle was later recovered from a gas station parking lot unoccupied. Surveillance footage allegedly showed a man identified as Fernandez-Torres driving the vehicle in the lot, according to police.


Court records show Fernandez-Torres is currently being held on $1,000 bond in the case. No plea has been entered. He is due to appear in a remote hearing in Meriden Superior Court on March 8.
